Steve Asetta is a composer, performer,
instrumentalist, film curator, and educator. He
plays soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone
saxophones, bass clarinet, euphonium, theremin,
and keyboards. His diverse musical styles
encompass classical, all forms of jazz and
popular music, reggae, funk, and brass band.
Steve's professional career as a saxophone
player began at The Dukes Social club in
Waterbury. From there he performed and shared
stages with a variety of bands including Jake
and the Family Jewels, The Target Rhythm Band,
Little Feat, NRBQ, Red Rodney, Dewey Redman,
Ed Blackwell, Brad Meldhau, The Shirelles, and
Goose Lane, among others. He has performed
internationally in venues ranging from Italian
Jazz Festivals to The Bottom Line in New York
City. Other venues include Carly Simon's Cat on
a Hot Tin Roof, Lone Star Cafe, and the New
York Stock Exchange.
Current projects include The Lyric Hall Theater
Orchestra as composer/film curator and Steve
and The Ringers.
